Description

Robotic Operator – SPS System supports overall operations and basic maintenance for robotics used in the sorting and quality checks of structural steel components. This role involves ensuring the thorough and timely completion of peripheral duties required by the robotic system.

Responsibilities
  • Equipment Operation
    • Load and unload steel components into the robotics system.
    • Have a basic understanding of machine operation to operate the robotic system for short periods.
    • Communicate with production planning and other parts department equipment operators to sort parts appropriately by area.
    • Ensure the accuracy of completed storage bins and coordinate any revised parts into already sorted parts locations.
    • Perform daily and repeated preventive and operation maintenance as needed.
  • Quality Control
  • Inspect rejected parts to quality control standards and communicate with the department lead on resolution.
  • Ensure parts bins are accurate and all parts are accounted for prior to delivery to production.
  • Safety Compliance
  • Follow safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) while operating the welding system.
  • Coordinate with other departments to manage bin movement throughout the shop utilizing RFID and software tracking.
  • Navigating Tekla EPM Go to review prints and coordinate with the robot operator and detail department to deliver parts bins to the robotic system and return empty bins to the detail department.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
  • Maintenance and Repairs
  • Perform routine maintenance on robotic welding systems, including cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians to address any mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Work closely with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to ensure seamless production processes.
  • Communicate effectively to address any production challenges or changes.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Physical stamina to stand, lift, and move heavy steel components.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a safety-conscious mindset.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly, occasionally lift greater than 50 lbs. with the support of other team members.
  • Ability to operate tools such as electric and gas-powered chain saws, nail guns, banding clamps, and pry bars.
  • Ability to work in an uncontrolled climate, including heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Capability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Ability to detect alarms and signals, both auditory and visual.
  • Depth perception and eye-hand coordination for precision tasks and safety.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow instructions.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
