General Description

Under the direction of the Machining Supervisor, the Machine Operator will work at BCT’s foundry facility to operate various types of equipment such as a CNC lathe, CNC mill, manual lathe, and wire EDM. They will need to use calipers, tape measures, and other precision measuring instruments, set up and run parts completely while performing periodic quality checks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Perform all required maintenance for machines.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools.
  • Stop machines to remove finished work pieces or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
  • Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts.
  • Able to layout features on material using drawings.
  • Able to be self‑motivated and stay organized.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the department.
  • Helps drive and support BCT’s culture and core values.

  • Able to make minor adjustments to programs and offsets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and detail oriented.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend part documentation (blueprints, tolerances, inspection criteria).
  • Mechanical aptitude (working with hand tools, pneumatic tools, following work instructions for disassembling and reassembling various types of process equipment).
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience operating large machines or mechanical experience.
  • 1 year of experience working with large machinery or in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
