Job Description Summary

New Employee Retention Bonus up to *$15,000 available for those who have not been employed with Rogers for more than six months. The Nursing Services Manager coordinates the disciplines and leads the development of all aspects of the clinical program for the Mental Health Recovery Child/Adolescent Inpatient Units. The position is scheduled Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. and is responsible for the overall management of nursing functions 24 hours a day, including staff performance assessment, scheduling, performance improvement, and treatment planning.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe, therapeutic patient care environments by applying established standards of care.
  • Act as backup to the charge nurse, coordinating admissions, discharges, and patient-provider communication.
  • Conduct direct nursing services when necessary and resolve patient/family concerns, complaints, and questions.
  • Advocate for care issue resolution and access resources supporting the patient.
  • Develop collaborative relationships across care levels to facilitate referrals.
  • Promote department services through presentations with the Marketing department and communicate with medical staff to maintain positive relations and quality services.
  • Use outcome surveys in collaboration with Marketing and the Rogers Operating System (ROS) to evaluate services.
  • Facilitate intra-department communication; oversee patient care and safety, including safety rounds and daily unit rounds.
  • Continuously assess and improve the physical safety of the unit.
  • Collaborate with the medical director(s) and other department managers to conceptualize and deliver the clinical program.
  • Research and apply effective therapeutic interdisciplinary techniques suitable for program patients.
  • Lead annual reviews of the clinical program and implement revisions based on patient and staff feedback and ROS data.
  • Act as patient advocate using patient rights knowledge to respond to grievances.
  • Evaluate resource usage, maintain equipment maintenance, and ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Coordinate training for staff development and identify clinical competencies for the position’s duties.
  • Facilitate skill development and educational opportunities for staff.
  • Monitor staff performance in care delivery, physician relations, documentation, and treatment planning.
  • Counsel staff to meet performance expectations and coordinate clinical management for consistent communication.
  • Manage department staff, set goals, and develop metrics for goal achievement.
  • Develop and maintain department policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission and state requirements.
  • Plan departmental needs through budgeting, manage FTE and capital expenditures, and monitor variance impacts.
  • Participate in Rogers Behavioral Health committees and projects, facilitating meetings effectively.
  • Manage personnel, promote a team environment, and conduct timely evaluations and timecard processing.
  • Ensure compliance with Human Resources policies, Infection Control, and Employee Health programs.
  • Maintain a professional image and attire in all interactions.
  • Assist in computerization initiatives and collaborate with Clinical Technology Services on hardware and software needs.
  • Communicate professionally, resolve conflicts calmly, and provide solutions.
  • Attend professional seminars and develop a network of external peers.
Education / Training Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of nursing experience required.
  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse license in good standing is required.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
  • American Heart Association CPR certification or American Red Cross Professional Rescue required within 30 days; annual re‑certification required.
  • Formal training in management of aggressive patients within 60 days; annual re‑certification required.
  • Clinical experience in mental health or chemical dependency services required.
  • RN Board Certification is desired.
