Position Overview
Department: 34003 Aurora West Allis Medical Center – Clinical Nurse Specialists
Status:
Full-time
Eligibility for benefits:
Yes
Hours per week: 40 hours on‑site, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with weekends or off shifts as needed for clinical practice support.
Pay Range: $38.20 – $57.30 per hour.
Key Responsibilities- Implement evidence‑based nursing interventions, best practice guidelines, research, modifications of professional standards and organizational policies to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide leadership and expertise in implementing and evaluating unit‑based programs of care to achieve quality, cost‑effective, nurse‑sensitive outcomes.
- Coordinate, implement and evaluate orientation and continuing education programs.
- Collaborate with leadership and support staff, management, and administration related to area of expertise.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies.
- Implement and monitor care standards and facilitate changes in clinical practice.
- Initiate changes in nursing practice and patient care plans based on data analyses.
- Collaborate with other healthcare practitioners to achieve service and clinical‑quality goals.
- Coach clinical nurses in professional development, mentor patient care managers and peer review team members.
- Promote research and evidence‑based practice through review, interpretation and implementation of research.
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from AHA to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Nursing certification in one or more specialty‑specific area(s) issued by ANCC or other approved national governing body within 2 years of hire.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Typically requires 2 years of experience in nursing or a clinical specialty area.
- Extensive experience in the clinical specialty area or attainment of proficient level on the Aurora clinical practice development model.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and listening skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders and twist frequently.
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
- Push or pull with 30 lbs of force.
- Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids on a continuous basis; protective gear required as needed.
- Functional sight and hearing; operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
