The salary range: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year based on relevant experience.
Scheduled Time: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (May be flexible an hour earlier).
Position SummaryWe are looking for a full‑time Process Improvement Engineer in New York. The role involves robotics application and programming, 3D and 2D design and printing of masking guides and material, working with cross‑functional partners to identify opportunities, and implementing process improvements in surface treatments. The engineer will identify, design, plan, and direct projects related to new or modified equipment used in the surface treatment process.
Duties include writing, testing, and modifying programs that direct robotic equipment such as FANUC for surface treatment applications (shot peening, painting), continuous improvement projects, masking template design/development, and creating masking/inspection operation sheets based on customer supplied drawings or 3D models.
- Work with the cross‑functional team to identify and implement process improvement opportunities in various surface treatments.
- Perform special projects as assigned and contribute to 6S and continuous improvement efforts.
- Write, test, and maintain programs that direct the actions of robotic equipment such as FANUC.
- Design and print masking guides and masking material in 3D.
- Train and certify personnel for chemical processes as necessary.
- Develop masking/inspection and process operation sheets.
- Use the ERP to create and maintain process plans, bill of materials, and part masters.
- Assist technical process leads in developing surface treatment methodology by interpreting customer requirements, engineering data, sketches, and written and verbal instructions.
- Help ensure all 6S and Magellan Operating System goals are met.
- 4‑year degree in mechanical engineering or 4‑6 years of hands‑on experience.
- Portfolio: provide samples, if possible, of components previously designed or programmed.
- Proficiency in PLC programming, project management, CATIA, Solid Works, C++, Robot Operating System (ROS), and CAD.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as microscopes, gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
- Knowledge of GD&T and interpretation of engineering data.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and effective time‑management skills.
- Ability to use ERP/MRP and MES systems.
- Quality‑orientated with high analytical and critical thinking ability.
- Capability to work collaboratively as a team and independently.
- Agile mindset, dependable, and highly motivated.
