Position: Healthy Meals Direct - Area Team Leader
Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW

The Area Leader is responsible for the performance, operations, cleanliness, and team execution across all Healthy Meals Direct store locations within their assigned area. This is a full-time, field-based leadership role requiring regular in-person presence at every store in the pod, as well as administrative work that may be completed in-store or remotely.
Area Leaders maintain all Store Manager responsibilities for their designated home store while simultaneously supporting, coaching, and holding accountable the Store Managers across their area. Reliable personal transportation and a willingness to travel between store locations is required.

AREA ASSIGNMENTS

Area Leaders are assigned to one of the following geographic pods:

HMD West - Oceanside, Bellmore, Massapequa, Hicksville, Merrick
HMD Center West - Farmingdale, West Babylon, Deer Park, Commack, West Islip
HMD Center East - Huntington, Smithtown, Islandia, Lake Grove, Ronkonkoma
HMD East - Farmingville, Manorville, Patchogue, Mount Sinai, Riverhead

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Store Oversight & Travel

• Regularly visit each store within the assigned area to assess operations, cleanliness, and staff performance.

• Maintain a minimum required number of in-store hours per week distributed across all area locations.

• Ensure all stores consistently meet HMD cleanliness, presentation, and product placement standards.

• Cultivate area-wide sales growth and champion exceptional customer feedback across all locations.

• Maintain a structured visit schedule so all stores receive regular, documented attention.

• Document store visit findings and share action items with the relevant Store Manager following each visit.

Operations & Directives

• Communicate and implement all directives from upper leadership across all stores in the area.

• Ensure Store Managers understand and are actively executing current strategies and priorities.

• Monitor and resolve operational issues including inventory, stock levels, and cash discrepancies.

• Address and escalate Shopify discrepancies as needed.

Shifts usage across the area; review hours and ensure scheduling compliance at all locations.

• Conduct regular check-ins with each Store Manager to assess morale, staffing needs, and performance.

• Identify stores requiring additional support and coordinate resources accordingly.

Home Store Responsibilities

• Maintain all Store Manager-level responsibilities for the designated home store.

• Ensure the home store upholds the same standards expected of every location in the area.

• Use the home store as a model of best practices that can be applied area-wide.

Technology & Reporting

• Expert-level use of 7

Shifts to review and approve schedules and hours across all area stores.

• Expert-level use of Shopify to review sales, cash reports, and resolve discrepancies area-wide.

• Use Slack as the primary communication channel with Store Managers and upper leadership.

• Monitor inventory systems and resolve discrepancies across all stores in the area.

• Produce regular area performance summaries for review by upper leadership.

Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS

• Current Healthy Meals Direct Store Manager in good standing - internal candidates only.

• Reliable personal transportation and a valid driver's license; willingness to travel daily within the assigned area.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold others accountable in a retail or food-service environment.

• Expert proficiency in Shopify POS and 7

Shifts scheduling software.

• Strong communication skills, including professional written communication via Slack.

• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple locations and competing priorities simultaneously.

• Comfortable working both independently in the field and collaboratively with leadership.

• Ability to stand for extended periods, travel between locations, and perform physical tasks as needed.
