Civil Engineer

The City of West Bend is recruiting an individual for a full-time Civil Engineer. This position will report directly to the City Engineer and is a professional/exempt position supporting various functions of the Engineering Department, including reviews of plans and documents, as well as coordination or administration of activities relating to private developments and public works construction. The incumbent will provide technical management, excellent customer service, and demonstrate strong ethical, professional, and service-oriented support.

This position is regularly scheduled Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The following duties are normal for this position:

• Review of private development plans and documents (site plans, land division maps, and construction plans).
• Coordinating and administering engineering construction projects, reviewing and/or creating design documents, plans and contract documents.
• Providing professional engineering support:
• Preparing specifications, cost estimates and contact documents for construction projects.
• Completing reports.
• Engaging in long-range planning.
• Coordinating projects with other City departments, consultants and the general public.
• Review of storm water management permit applications.
• Assist in managing requirements of the City's MS4 permit.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must possess a valid Wisconsin drivers’ license.

Civil Engineer I (1 – 3 years of experience) – $64,896 - $69,763

Civil Engineer II (3 – 5 years of experience) – $72,945 - $78,415

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

Registration as an E.I.T. and/or as a P.E. in Wisconsin preferred.

A pre-employment drug screening, physical, and background check are required to be eligible for hire.
