HVAC MEP Designer - COMPENSATION Is D.O.E.
Position OverviewOur client is seeking a detail‑oriented HVAC MEP Designer to support the design and development of mechanical systems for commercial, residential, and/or industrial projects. This individual will play a key role in designing efficient, code‑compliant HVAC systems while coordinating closely with internal teams, architects, engineers, and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Design and layout HVAC systems including ductwork, equipment, and air distribution systems
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations to properly size equipment and systems
- Develop detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software
- Coordinate HVAC designs with structural, electrical, and plumbing systems to avoid conflicts
- Select and specify HVAC equipment based on project requirements, efficiency, and budget
- Ensure all designs meet local, state, and federal codes as well as industry standards
- Review project plans, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and completeness
- Support project teams during construction by responding to RFIs and making design adjustments as needed
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to ensure successful project execution
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in HVAC design, MEP design, or mechanical drafting (level can be adjusted)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant design software
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, duct design, and load calculations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents
- Familiarity with building codes, energy standards, and industry best practices
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
- Experience working on commercial or multifamily projects
- Knowledge of energy modeling or system optimization
- Exposure to design‑build environments or contractor‑side design
- EIT or working toward PE license is a plus
