Human Resources Generalist
Washington County, located in West Bend, offers an excellent opportunity as a Human Resources Generalist.
In this front‑line HR position you focus on benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, employee training, and HR compliance. You will provide support to all County employees in all HR functional areas.
Qualifications- A Bachelor's Degree required
- A minimum of 2 years of HR Generalist experience
- Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license
Pay based on experience. Salary Range: $69,117.00-$91,905.00

- Benefit Administration:
Administers benefit programs to include working with vendors and systems for enrollment, terminations, claims resolution, change reporting, reconciliation of monthly benefit invoices for approval and payment, and communication of benefit information to employees; manages the 3rd‑party benefit providers to include health, dental, vision, work comp, family and medical leave, short and long‑term disability. - Recruitment:
Oversees recruitment activity for various Washington County departments. Coordinates staffing requirements with Department Heads, Supervisors and Managers and develops effective recruitment strategies; conducts New Hire Orientation for employees. - Employee Relations:
Provides timely guidance and feedback to leadership in all aspects of employee relations management, including, but not limited to, compliance with company policies, procedures, and practices as well as applicable state and federal employment laws. Manages internal investigations and makes recommendations to the appropriate course of action. Conducts any investigations for complaints that are perceived to violate the County's harassment or discrimination policy and/or any other applicable state and/or federal law, and advises leadership in resolving operationally‑based complaints. - Performance Management:
Assists leaders with performance management, and advises on employee corrective actions and terminations. Provides coaching to leadership in order to assist them in providing positive motivation where possible. - Employee Training:
Performs employee and management training related to various HR topics to include performance management, harassment, change management, time management, and work comp process. Creates training presentations based on topics requested by departments. - Compliance:
Develops and maintains HR compliance records. - Administrative:
Processes the various benefit invoices for payment, answers general HR questions, updates the intranet, coordinates various programs including Blood Drives. - Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.
Extensive knowledge of HRIS software applications; sound knowledge of regulations governing employment and human resource systems; knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws and regulations. Knowledge of Human Resources as a discipline including experience with benefits administration, new hire processing, record keeping and HRIS administration; analysis skills and ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with all levels of the organization;
ability to work independently as well as participate in a team of professionals; ability to recognize issues, problems and opportunities, and take appropriate action; demonstrated ability to take charge and get results within a team environment; strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet; accuracy, confidentiality and responsive customer service are essential in this role. Able to fulfill physical demands of the job, sensory demands (seeing and hearing), and cognitive demands (concentration, conceptualization, memorization).
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
A Bachelor's Degree required and a minimum of 2 years of HR Generalist experience. Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
