The Mold Mechanic II maintains and repairs various molds by performing breakdowns, cleanings, inspections, precision measurements, and preventive maintenance. They also machine and fabricate metal and nonmetal parts, operate a range of machine tools, and interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate assembly and performance of mold components.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain various types of molds by performing proper mold breakdown, cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
  • Inspect and perform precision measurements of molds and tooling components and compare to print specifications.
  • Prepare and operate a variety of machine tools, such as radial drill press, lathes, milling machines, band/table saw, and sand blasters, to machine metal work pieces usually on a custom basis.
  • Fabricate advanced metallic and nonmetallic parts, and fit and assemble machined parts into complete units.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts.
  • Measure, mark, and write dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides for subsequent machining.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years’ work experience in setting up and operating lathes, manual mills, drill presses, grinders, sand blasters, and other machining equipment.
  • 3+ years’ experience using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, and metal properties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational or trade school in related trade.
  • 5 years’ experience with troubleshooting and building plastic injection molds.
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Shift: 2nd shift
  • Hours: Mon – Fri, 3:45p to 12:15a
