Job Description
The primary focus of this position is to operate, maintain, and improve our wastewater discharge. This role operates and maintains wastewater equipment to satisfy our Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) Industrial User Permit requirements and serves as the designated operator in charge who holds a current and valid certification per State of Wisconsin requirements. The operator works closely with the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager, Maintenance Team Advisor/Team Leader, regulatory agencies, and vendors to ensure proper maintenance of wastewater equipment and processes, and to assure proper water chemistry.
Responsibilities- Understand and execute standard operating procedures relative to the position.
- Collect wastewater samples for process monitoring and compliance.
- Operate equipment, read gauges/meters, and record data.
- Perform basic lab tasks.
- Perform all PCP and CCP checks required for the position.
- Follow reaction plan for food safety, food quality, and customer requirement outages by contacting leadership.
- Record accurate data on required reports.
- Perform maintenance tasks including troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on all related systems in an industrial environment.
- Identify and implement process improvements in wastewater and plant potable water areas.
- 4+ years of experience in wastewater treatment operations and a valid Class 3 or 4 certification.
- Basic wastewater chemistry knowledge and experience with chemical testing and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical and electrical repairs to pumps, mechanical drives, valves, piping, sensors, and controls.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Starting wage: $34.89 per hour.
- $5,000 sign‑on bonus paid within the first year.
- Overtime is expected and weekend work is likely. Overtime is paid on 8+ hours in a day, time and a half on Saturdays and double time on Sundays.
