Job Summary

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving company facilities and equipment to ensure a safe, efficient, and professional work environment. This role performs a wide range of maintenance duties, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, flooring installation, office workstation setup, network cabling, and building renovations. The position also supports office relocations, coordinates small projects with contractors and vendors, assists with custodial and snow removal activities as needed, and provides responsive customer service to employees.

Responsibilities & Qualifications Summary of Responsibilities
  • Service and repair company equipment and facilities.
  • Assemble and configure office workstations.
  • Provide professional and courteous service and assistance to associates.
  • Assist custodial team as needed; assist with snow removal.
  • Make plumbing repairs; clean and maintain hard floors and carpets.
  • Perform exterior maintenance including roofing, caulking, brick and tuckpoint repair, and painting.
  • Perform interior building maintenance and renovations including framing, drywalling, and painting.
  • Install and service vinyl and ceramic tile and carpet; support telecommunication network by servicing station equipment, installing and testing voice cable, and diagnosing line trouble.
  • Install, test, and certify LAN transmission media up to and including category 6 UTP cable and termination equipment.
  • Oversee small projects with contractors/vendors; participate in continuing education courses (HVAC, BOMI Institute, etc.).
  • Perform tear‑down, relocation, and setup of personal computers during associate relocations and departmental reconfigurations.
Physical Demands

This position requires significant physical activity throughout the workday, primarily performed indoors. Duties are primarily performed while standing, walking, bending, or reaching, with frequent movement between different areas of the facility. The role involves regular lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally heavier items with assistance. Tasks may require climbing ladders or stairs, operating machinery, and handling chemicals and supplies.

The role involves manual dexterity and the ability to perform repetitive motions and also requires the ability to respond quickly to spills or other hazards, and to perform tasks that may involve kneeling, crouching, or working in confined spaces. It may also require the use of personal protective equipment (hard hats, goggles, gloves, safety shoes, N‑95 masks, etc.).

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily indoors in a variety of facility settings, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas. The environment may be humid, dusty, or subject to strong odors due to cleaning products and waste materials. The noise level can range from quiet to moderately loud, especially when operating equipment. The position may require exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on facility needs.

  • 2 years of technical support experience
  • Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills

  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with document management and CMMS systems
