Grants Accounting Specialist
The Grant Accounting Specialist reports to the Controller and Director for Finance and is responsible for the financial management of grants, including recording financial activity, preparing and submitting financial reports, expenditure compliance review, cost transfers, and annual grant closeout in accordance with GAAP.
Responsibilities:
• Record, reconcile, and prepare monthly financial reporting of grants; develop policies and procedures to identify weaknesses in financial controls
• Track and reconcile incoming wire payments for each grant and forecast cash flow needs
• Assist in developing the annual operating budget for assigned grants
• Reconcile grants to internal and external software and maintain the accounting and grants manual
• Manage external audit requirements related to Homecare grants, including audit schedules and auditor walkthroughs
• Meet regularly with the Senior Director of Holocaust Survivor Services and Billing Supervisor to coordinate across departments
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent
• Three to five years of progressive grant accounting experience including general ledger, account reconciliations, and audit preparation
• Working understanding of GAAP; high attention to detail
• Experience with Claims Conference grants and Sage Intacct preferred
• Strong Microsoft Office skills and comfort in an enterprise general ledger system
