Assistant Clinical Manager

Under the supervision of the Director / Nurse Manager, the Assistant Clinical Manager assumes both a clinical and management role. This position is responsible to plan, organize, and direct the provision of patient care services within the department. The Assistant Clinical Manager is to assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of budgets, quality improvement programs, staffing levels, goals, objectives, regulatory compliance, and policies within the department.

Also, the Assistant Clinical Manager is to assist in the evaluation and discipline of personnel.

Principle duties and responsibilities include: collaborating with Director/ Nurse Manager to plan and implement management strategies, providing unit leadership on the off-shift at least 75% of time worked, coordinating staffing assignments, collecting data and monitoring patient charts for appropriate documentation and follow through of orders, providing communication to staff in a timely manner, serving as a clinical resource and mentor, regularly performing the work of staff nurse per budgeted expectations and based on unit needs, assisting in supervising the in-service education program, maintaining a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, responsible for informing the Director/ Nurse Manager of nursing activities, needs, problems, and unusual events, assisting in the review and evaluation of unit personnel, assuming 24-hour responsibility for the administrative management in collaboration with nurse manager for designated patient care area, making recommendations to the Director/ Nurse Manager to hire, promote, and discipline nursing service employees, promoting HFHS Quality Initiatives and Service Excellence Initiatives, conducting shift huddles, frequent communication with Director/ Nurse Manager regarding information pertinent to patient care, making routine nursing round/ audits on personnel, timecards, equipment, materials, supplies, etc.,

and responsible for environment of care, including infection control and emergency preparedness.

Education/Experience required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Three years of charge experience.

Certifications/Licensures:
Current RN license in the State of Michigan. ACLS certified Certifications appropriate for specific unit.
