Equans is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Smethwick and Sandwell General Hospital in West Bromwich. This is a full‑time role of 40 hours per week. Salary: £32,000‑£35,000 per annum plus a benefits package.

• Work on ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold‑water systems.
• Respond to reactive jobs: conduct diagnostics, fault‑finding and repair on complex mechanical systems in compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
• Respond to Building Management System (BMS) alerts and phone calls during night shift; assess the issue, allocate tasks to the appropriate team member, and complete the necessary documentation.
• Ensure all records are handed over to the Helpdesk team at the start of their shift to support effective service continuity.
• Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as specialist ventilation, complex water systems and medical gas installations.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks across the site in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training.

• City and Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or 3 or recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Previous experience within a maintenance environment; advantage if healthcare maintenance.
• Competent Person/Authorised Person experience in ventilation and/or pressure systems (desirable).
• Required:
  
  DBS Standard check – must pass.
