About this jobEquans is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Smethwick.
This is a full‑time role working 40 hours per week.
On offer is a salary banding of £32,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience and a benefits package.
What will you deliver?- Respond to reactive and proactive jobs, including diagnostic, fault‑finding and repair of complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures, and in compliance with legislation and guidance.
- Respond to BMS alerts and phone calls during night shift, acting as the initial point of contact.
- Assess the nature of the issue, allocate tasks to appropriate team members and complete the necessary documentation.
- Ensure all records are handed over to the helpdesk team at the start of their shift to support effective service continuity.
- Obtain Competent Person status through training and instruction for systems such as low‑voltage electrical systems, access control systems, alarm systems and medical gas installations.
- Undertake the role of Authorised Person following appropriate training and familiarisation.
- Work on emergency lighting, nurse calls, general electrics and fire alarms, among other duties.

- Previously worked within a maintenance environment.
- Previously worked within a healthcare maintenance environment (desired).
- Must pass a DBS Standard check.
- Right to work in the UK.
- £32,000 - £35,000 per annum salary band.
