Role Description The HGV Technician role at Aquila Truck Centres in Tipton is a full-time, on-site position focused on maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles to a high standard. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, carrying out scheduled servicing, completing repairs on trucks, buses, and trailers, and ensuring all work complies with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations. The technician will use diagnostic equipment and technical data, prepare accurate job cards and service reports, and communicate clearly with service advisors and colleagues about work progress and any additional requirements.

The role also involves conducting pre-MOT checks, road testing vehicles as appropriate, maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment, and supporting 24-hour service operations where required.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, including experience working on HGVs, buses, and trailers across multiple manufacturers.
• Candidates should possess skills in mechanical and electrical diagnostics, including the use of modern diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and manufacturer systems.
• Candidates should possess skills in adhering to safety and compliance standards, including knowledge of DVSA requirements, MOT preparation, and workshop health and safety practices.
• Candidates should possess skills in technical documentation and communication, including accurate completion of job cards, service records, and clear communication with colleagues and customers.
• Candidates should ideally hold relevant qualifications such as NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and a valid driver’s license (HGV license beneficial).
• Candidates should demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, ability to work shifts or flexible hours, and a commitment to ongoing technical training and professional development.
• Experience with MAN, ISUZU, Neoplan, Iveco or mixed fleets (e.g., DAF, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Scania, Volvo) and familiarity with dealer-level
