Patient Care Technician Behavioral Health

Job Overview

Minimum Hiring Wage:
From $18.89 per hour.

Schedule:

6:30am - 3:00pm, every other weekend.

• Provide basic patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse.
• Perform bedside shift reports at beginning and end of shift.
• Assist in wound prevention and care to reduce hospital-acquired pressure injuries.
• Care for restrained patients and monitor safety per nurse instructions.
• Adhere to safety practices and use proper infection control equipment.
• Maintain accurate keyboarding proficiency and computer navigation skills.
• Perform basic math to calculate intake and output.
• Set up equipment such as oxygen, portable X‑ray machines, and irrigation bottles.
• Answer patient call lights promptly and address or report requests.
• Perform skin assessments and report abnormal results to the licensed nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living and maintain clean patient rooms.
• Collect and label specimens (urine, feces, sputum) and deliver to lab.
• Feed patients who cannot self‑feed.
• Monitor patients for changes, measure intake/output, vital signs, and report to nursing staff.
• Transport patients to treatment units using wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Reposition patients to prevent pressure ulcers; use alarm systems for fall prevention.
• Document activities in the medical record accurately and timely.
• Perform blood glucose monitoring and report abnormal results.
• Grossly monitor as directed (BGM, etc.).
• Greet visitors and callers, direct appropriately.
• Facilitate admissions, discharges, and transfers with staff.
• Operate office equipment (nurse call, fax, scanners, photocopier, computer, telephone, telemetry).
• Maintain inventory of supplies.

• Completion of C.N.A. course (or completion within four months of hire).
• Computer experience.
• Health care experience within last five years (preferred).
• Emergency First Response and choking certification within 90 days of hire.
• Mandatory reporting:
  Adult Abuse, Child Abuse (within required timeframe).
• Certified Nursing Assistant within 120 days.
• MOAB certification within 12 months of hire.
• Restraint training completed after hire.
• Knowledge of Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention techniques.
