TPM

Operations Supervisor

The TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Operations Supervisor will supervise TPM Packaging operators and/or TPM Processing operators, conduct predictive and preventative maintenance, monitor line efficiency, safety and food safety, quality and process control checks of high-speed packaging and processing machines. This leader will ensure all production lines and equipment are running in all manufacturing processes. In addition, this position provides oversight to the area team and manages sanitation, changeovers, set ups and start-ups.

The TPM Operations Supervisor will provide guidance, coaching, and training with a strong focus on developing the TPM operations technician team members. This role offers clear direction, leadership, and support to direct reports through empowerment, teamwork, coaching, and on-the-job assignments as the organization transforms into a Continuous Improvement and Lean environment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise TPM operators on packaging and/or processing machines, including processing equipment (fryers, ovens, tanks, silos, grinders, washers, belts, conveyors, OMS, etc.) and packaging equipment (OMS, scale, bagger, seal check, robot, belts, conveyors, etc.).
  • Supervise 15-50 operators and other technicians.
  • Maintain 90% or higher efficiency rate on each processing and/or packaging machine.
  • Processing: ensure all paperwork/documentation is completed correctly.
  • Packaging: ensure all paperwork/documentation is completed correctly. First case verification must be done at the beginning of each shift and after each changeover.
  • Complete all quality and process control documents at the required frequency.
  • Champion the team to practice predictive, preventative, and emergency response machine maintenance; utilize MMS & critical part escalation; complete work orders & parts checkout practices. Understand and address mechanical needs of area equipment, such as baggers, scales, flavoring applicators, baggers, and connected equipment.
  • Direct employees and plant floor activities to achieve a consistent and high-quality product.
  • Ensure safety and sanitation rules and principles are followed to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Company regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain positive employee relations, including participating in evaluation and training of hourly personnel.
  • Track employees' work performance and attendance to ensure metrics are met, including resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Utilize metrics/data to evaluate and improve work processes, and maintain line-related systems and regulatory documentation.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and cross-functional teams to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Plan and establish work schedules.
Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • 4-year degree in a related business or technical field such as food science, operations management, or engineering OR related certification and equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in a production management or supervision role, preferably in the food processing industry
  • Strong leadership capabilities to help take our team to the next level
