Safety Specialist
Job Description
The Safety Specialist oversees all safety-related needs on active projects and ensures that teams work safely and in compliance with established protocols. This role reviews daily work activities, engages with onsite team members, and promotes a culture of safety through accountability and positive behavioral influence. The Safety Specialist collaborates closely with the client and the Territory Safety Lead to meet and exceed safety program goals while completing all required reporting and documentation.
Responsibilities
* Review all work activities on site during the assigned shift to promote safe work practices and ensure appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Engage directly with craft and field personnel to reinforce safety expectations, address unsafe behaviors, and encourage positive behavioral change.
* Hold team members and contractors accountable for adhering to safety protocols, procedures, and site-specific safety requirements.
* Complete all required internal and external safety documentation and paperwork related to the assigned shift and phase of work.
* Conduct multiple safety observations each week, document findings, and follow up on corrective actions as needed.
* Support the implementation of the safety program and contribute to continuous improvement of safety performance on the project.
* Collaborate with the client and the Territory Safety Lead to ensure alignment with safety goals, metrics, and reporting requirements.
* Participate in or support safety meetings, briefings, and toolbox talks to reinforce safety expectations and communicate relevant updates.
Essential Skills
* At least 2 years of experience working in a safety-focused role, preferably in a construction or industrial environment.
* Strong knowledge of safety practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to construction and related work environments.
* Current CST (Construction Safety Technician or equivalent) certification.
* Completion of OSHA 30-hour training (OHSA 30).
* Ability to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and intervene effectively to promote safe work practices.
* Strong documentation and reporting skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Effective communication skills to engage craft workers, supervisors, and leadership on safety topics.
* Ability to work on active job sites and monitor multiple work activities during a shift.

* Experience conducting safety observations and translating findings into actionable improvements.
* Familiarity with construction operations and typical job site hazards.
* Ability to influence and coach others to adopt safe work behaviors and comply with safety protocols.
* Comfort working closely with clients and safety leadership to support safety program goals.
* Organizational skills to manage documentation, reporting, and follow-up actions across different phases of work.
Work Environment
The Safety Specialist works primarily on active construction or project sites, spending significant time in the field observing work activities and engaging with craft personnel. The role requires consistent presence on site during assigned shifts, which may involve varying site conditions, outdoor environments, and exposure to typical construction hazards. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and must be worn as dictated by site conditions and safety protocols.
The position involves regular interaction with field teams, supervisors, and safety leadership, as well as completion of documentation and reporting in an office or onsite trailer setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
Full medical, dental, and vision insurance. Ability to contribute to 401k. Truck allowance, car allowance.
