2026 - 2027 Project Lead the Way Engineering Instructor Position
Project Lead the Way Engineering Instructor
LocationLakota West Freshman School
General DescriptionThis instructor will teach Project Lead the Way Introduction to Engineering Design courses for 9th grade students. In this hands‑on, project‑based course, students use industry‑standard 3D modeling CAD software to help them design solutions to solve proposed problems. Students also participate in the career technical student organization Technology Student Association.
Qualifications- Appropriate licensure/certification through the Ohio State Board of Education or ability to obtain proper licensure. Applicants must meet ONE OF THE FOLLOWING requirements to be considered for this position:
- Current Ohio teacher licensure in a math, science, or engineering area covering Grade 9; OR
- Work experience and/or educational attainment in an engineering‑related field as outlined below AND ability to complete Ohio's alternative teacher licensure process, including university coursework:
- Bachelor's or master's degree outside the content area and five years of relevant work experience; OR
- Bachelor's or master's degree in the content area and two years of relevant work experience;
- Must successfully complete the Project Lead the Way teacher pre‑assessment;
- Must successfully complete Project Lead the Way Summer Training Institute in the summer of 2026 if credential not already held (The Butler Tech Human Resources Department will provide information on registration and appropriate coursework.);
- Willingness/ability to work with students, teachers and administrators as a team member;
- Computer expertise appropriate to the position;
- Effective and demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, analytical, oral and written communication, and organizational skills;
- State‑issued identification card with photograph;
- History of strong work record, including good job attendance; and
- Documented evidence of acceptable criminal record as required by Ohio law and Board Policy.
