Contract Manufacturing Engineer – Aerospace Composites (Temp/Contract)
Drive process excellence in advanced aerospace manufacturing where precision, quality, and performance matter. We are seeking an experienced Contract Manufacturing Engineer to support composite production operations for complex aerospace structures in Cincinnati, OH. This role is ideal for a hands‑on engineering professional who excels at improving efficiency, reducing cost, and elevating quality in high‑performance manufacturing environments.
In this interim contract role, you will evaluate and optimize composite fabrication and assembly processes, including layup, curing, trimming, bonding, machining, and inspection. You will analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, reduce cycle times, and improve throughput, yield, and first‑pass quality. Responsibilities include leading root cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconformances, updating manufacturing work instructions and SOPs, and supporting tooling and fixture improvements to enhance repeatability and manufacturability.
You will collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to support production ramp‑up, capacity planning, and new process validation. This role also supports Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) efforts, and compliance with aerospace quality standards, including AS9100. Additional focus areas include NPI support, process documentation, and continuous improvement execution.
Requirements:- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
- Strong background in aerospace composites manufacturing processes
- Experience with process optimization, root cause analysis, and SPC
- Knowledge of aerospace quality systems and production standards
- Lean Six Sigma certification
- AS9100 experience
- Familiarity with NDT/NDI inspection methods and MES/ERP systems
- Aerospace OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience
- $50–$60/hr
- Onsite role in Cincinnati, OH
- 3–12 month contract (duration may vary)
