Location: Olde West Chester

Sr. Engineer CTH
- Technical Regulations and Standards, General Electric Company, West Chester, OH:

Function as an expert in European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Design Organization Approval (DOA) regulatory system throughout GE Aerospace. Define, develop, and improve business processes related to certification to improve quality and productivity within Airworthiness and Certification. Collaboratively builds strategy and vision for certification and continued airworthiness of advanced technology future commercial propulsion programs. Represent GE when interfacing with FAA, EASA or FCAAs on Engineering, continued operational safety, and certification issues.

Interface with product line leaders and external customers to ensure program technical objectives are appropriately defined and met to support and maintain regulatory compliance. Interprets internal and external business challenges and implements best practices to improve processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process. Provides technical leadership to other personnel assigned to support the effort on assigned projects and/or tasks.

Monitors and communicates project status, business issues and significant developments. Interface with product line leaders, external customers, and to ensure program technical objectives are appropriately defined and met to support and maintain regulatory compliance. Effectively investigates and addresses regulatory non-compliance concerns.

Full time employment, Monday
- Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field and 15 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 15 years experience in:

  • New engine certification and engine product change certification experience working with both Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulatory systems or similar regulatory systems.
  • Knowledge of regulations pertinent to commercial aircraft engines including EASA Part 21, CS-E; FAA Part 21, Part 23, Part 33 and Part 34, or equivalent regulations issued by other national or international aviation authorities.
  • Creating engine type certification planning documents and certification test plans and reports for new engine certification program and major changes to the engine type design.

Of the required experience, must have 5 years experience in:

  • Managing projects for foreign approval of FAA or EASA certified engines with validating authorities.
  • Working in EASA Design Organization Approval (DOA) airworthiness and compliance verification functions and as an Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) engineering unit member.

Of the required experience, must have 2 years experience in:

  • Working directly with EASA and FAA on development of regulations or special conditions for advanced non-gas turbine propulsion system certification.
  • Working with industry committees including European Organization for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE), SAE International, and ASTM International to develop industry standards for advanced non-gas turbine propulsion systems.

International travel required up to 10%;
Domestic travel required up to 10%.
