Core Responsibilities
- Ensure that division’s and vendors’ quality system consistently meets / exceeds customers’ requirements, FAA, EASA and CAAC Part 145 regulatory compliance, AS 9100 structure, special processes (Nadcap) and other industry appropriate requirements.
- Promptly address quality issues and ensure quick and effective root cause analysis & actions to minimize impact to customers and to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain strong communication with customers, internal management team, and vendors to ensure quality level is meeting expectations.
- Support Engineering in setting work processes; ensure that ‘built in quality’ and ‘inspecting quality in’ steps are optimized.
- Monitor and analyze process / product outputs, identify systemic problem/opportunity areas, provide data to the divisional team(s), and work with team members to drive process improvement towards zero-defect quality performance.
- Actively participate on the Quality Council team to share / take back company best practices.
- Increase quality skill bench strength: educate, coach and mentor in inspection methods, auditing, root cause corrective action and Six Sigma philosophy, methodology and tools.
- Lead the expansion and sustainment of Barnes Aerospace quality culture throughout the entire value chain.
- Manage divisional cost of quality and optimize return on investment.
- Proven team leadership skills with ability to effectively influence and motivate others. Lead by example.
- Substantial functional experience with a successful track record of results.
- Strong customer‑focused, quantitative, analytical, and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work effectively with diverse customers and team members.
- Previous experience in customer relations and resolving issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
- BS or BA degree in engineering or other technical fields with five (5) years or more equivalent experience in aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Certified Quality Manager or Certified Manufacturing Engineer preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
