CWI - Certified Weld Inspector

Location: West Chester, OH

Pay: $65-$85k/yr

Requirements:

  • AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification required with 5+ years of welding inspection experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, blueprint reading, GD&T, and weld symbol interpretation.
  • Experience inspecting stainless steel, high-performance alloys, and pressure vessel, piping, or HVAC component fabrication preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, digital inspection/reporting tools, and familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely perform physical job requirements, including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in a manufacturing environment while using appropriate PPE.
  • Preferred experience with orbital welding systems (AMI, Orbitalum, Swagelok), high-purity welding applications, PLC troubleshooting, or additional welding-related certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform visual, dimensional, and non-destructive inspections (VT, PT, MT, etc.) to ensure welded products meet AWS, ASME, and company quality standards.
  • Verify weld procedures, welder qualifications, consumables, and engineering documentation for compliance with project requirements.
  • Document inspection results, non-conformances, corrective actions, and maintain accurate records within the quality management system.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve welding issues, conduct root cause analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in weld audits, quality training, certification reviews, and ensure inspection equipment is properly calibrated and traceable.
