Commercial Door Systems Field Technician
About the Role
As a Field Service Specialist for Commercial Openings, you will serve as a technical expert responsible for the installation, maintenance, and optimization of industrial door systems and loading dock hardware. You will play a vital role in ensuring site safety and operational efficiency by delivering high-quality mechanical repairs and hardware configurations for a diverse range of commercial clients.
Responsibilities- Execute complex installations and troubleshooting for commercial door systems, dock levelers, and specialized hardware to maximize facility uptime.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions, including spring tensioning, locksets, and automated access control systems.
- Ensure all site work adheres to rigorous safety protocols and local building code compliance.
- Provide consultative solutions to clients, clearly explaining technical issues and recommending cost-effective repair strategies.
- Maintain precise documentation of service history and project outcomes to support long-term facility maintenance.
- Perform comprehensive quality assurance testing on all completed repairs to guarantee peak performance.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in commercial or industrial door service.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in power tools and precision measurement.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders and lifting heavy components.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical solutions to non-technical clients.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and motor vehicle screenings.
- Current AAADM certification.
- Experience with low-voltage wiring and access control integration.
- Previous training in welding or metal fabrication.
- Familiarity with hollow metal frames and storefront glazing systems.
