The shift for the position is Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Financial Aid Office supports the recruitment, retention, and student success efforts of the University's diverse undergraduate and graduate student population by helping students and their influencers seek, obtain, and make the best use of all financial resources.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Financial Aid, the Assistant Director oversees the Federal Work-Study Program (FWS); leads WCU financial wellness initiatives; and serves as the primary point of contact for both the Promise Program, a campus support program serving students who are housing insecure and for the Academic Success Program.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service, presentation, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills; providing financial aid counseling, collaborating with outside agencies, and serving diverse student populations; and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor and reconcile annual departmental budgets and expenditures to ensure the institution operates within its federal funding limits
- Guarantee FWS program adherence to Federal Student Aid guidelines, including the required Community Service and Reading Tutor spending mandates
- Compile and submit wage and utilization reports and assist with annual FISAP (Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate) reporting
- Evaluate student FWS eligibility based on FAFSA data and package financial aid accordingly
- Operate as main contact for students who qualify for the WCU promise program, which includes organizing and overseeing monthly events
- Collaborate with organizations off campus to help provide additional support to West Chester University's Promise population
- Represent the Financial Aid department on the ASP/ACT 101 Advisory Board
- Review and package all ASP students with summer financial aid
- Hire, train, and supervise a team of Financial Wellness Ambassadors
- Collaborate with campus partners to provide excellent customer service to support students and their families
- Provide counseling on the financial aid process to both prospective and current students and parents via email, in-person meetings and phone
- Manage a case load of student appeals
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree
- One year of professional Financial aid or related higher education experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with Federal Work-Study operations
- Experience in customer service
- Experience using student information systems including Banner, COD, AES/PHEAA, and NSLDS
- Experience supporting diverse populations
- Knowledge of Financial Aid programs
Salary and benefits are dictated by the State College and University Professional Association (SCUPA) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
