The Department of Mathematics invites applicants for a Full-time, Tenure-Track, Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics position. The rank is commensurate on experience. The position begins in August 2027.

The mission of the College of the Sciences and Mathematics, home of the Department of Mathematics, is to prepare the students of West Chester University to be informed citizens and successful professionals, through our academic programs and co-curricular experiences in the computational, mathematical, natural, and social sciences, as well as engineering. The Department's faculty hold advanced degrees from major universities with gained recognition both nationally and internationally in research and teaching.

The faculty position involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level courses that may be offered in in-person, online, and/or hybrid modalities depending on departmental needs including evening schedules. The ideal candidate will use innovative teaching skills and demonstrate strong attention to the learning and teaching needs of the department's students. Their experience, substantive specialization, and pedagogical training will serve to strengthen the department's mission and vision.

The faculty will collaborate with other departmental and college faculty & staff to ensure student success.

Responsibilities include:

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate, including electives, principles, and intermediate level courses in Mathematics via approved modalities. Additional courses may be assigned based on area of specialization depending on department needs.
• Engage in scholarly activities such as research, presentations, publications and grant writing
• Mentor and advise students
• Serve the Department and University community through participation in various committees
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field. ABD may be considered – Doctoral dissertation must be successfully completed on or before August 2027; and
• Record of scholarship and research experience in scientific computing, operations research, mathematical modeling, or applied analysis; and
• Demonstrated experience teaching at a collegiate level

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading the development of undergraduate or graduate research initiatives; and/or
• Experience contributing to the development of Departmental programs; and/or
• Experience teaching courses in diverse areas of mathematics - includes undergraduate & graduate majors, and general education courses; and/or
• Experience authoring or co-authoring grant or attracting external research funding
• Experience teaching in various modalities, including online synchronous, online asynchronous, or a hybrid format
