Assistant/Associate Professor Of Nutrition

The Department of Nutrition invites applicants for a Full-time, 9-month, Tenure-Track, Assistant/Associate Professor of Nutrition with a specialty in clinical nutrition. Appointment rank will be determined based on experience and expertise. The position begins in August 2027.

The mission of the Department of Nutrition in the College of Health Sciences at West Chester University is to shape tomorrow's nutrition and dietetics professionals and leaders through quality, relevant, and innovative teaching, service, and scholarship.
The Nutrition Department offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels; undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) (accredited), Master of Science in Community Nutrition (MSCN), and Dietetic Internship (accredited). The degree and curriculum options offer a wide variety of rewarding career opportunities including clinical dietetics, community/public health nutrition, sports nutrition, wellness, food service management, and state of the art interprofessional and simulation opportunities.

The ideal candidate will share WCU's demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, have prior experience working with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations, and will contribute to student success through inclusive pedagogy, scholarship, and service to the University and surrounding West Chester University communities.
The typical course load involves teaching four courses per semester. Assignments may include opportunities for teaching at off-campus sites and/or through distance learning.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses including, but not limited to, Nutrition Assessment, Medical Nutrition Therapy I and II, Sports Nutrition, Lifecycle Nutrition, and others.
- Contributing to the curriculum and curriculum development in the undergraduate and graduate/dietetic internship programs
- Conducting research and other types of scholarly activities compatible with the teacher-scholar model
- Directing student projects
- Mentoring and advising students
- Serving the University and the community through participation in various committees
- Administrative duties assigned as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Nutrition or a closely related field. (ABD and terminal degree completed by the end of first year of employment will be considered with a letter from the dissertation chair outlining timeline for completion).
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential (RD or RDN)
- Work experience in clinical nutrition
- Didactic teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board certified specialist (sports dietetic, obesity and weight management, renal, etc.); and/or
- Work experience in sports nutrition; and/or
- Teaching experience with learning management systems such as Blackboard, D2L or Canvas; and/or
- Teaching experience with adult learners and experience using distance education technology
