Job Summary
A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to support a variety of residential, commercial, land development, infrastructure, and structural projects. This role provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in both field and office environments, supporting projects from initial site investigation through construction-phase services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with geotechnical investigations and site assessments including soil borings, test pits, infiltration testing, and site reconnaissance
- Coordinate drilling programs and subsurface exploration activities
- Analyze soil, rock, groundwater, and subsurface conditions in accordance with project requirements and industry standards
- Review and interpret laboratory and field testing data
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and recommendations under supervision of senior engineers
- Support foundation evaluations including settlement analysis, bearing capacity, slope stability, retaining walls, earthwork, and ground improvement techniques
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, developers, and project teams
- Provide construction-phase support, field observations, and documentation
- Assist with construction materials testing (CMT) and special inspections as needed
- Maintain project documentation, field notes, and communication records while managing multiple assignments
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with focus in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
- 0-3 years of relevant experience
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months preferred
- Understanding of soil mechanics, foundation systems, and site development concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work outdoors in varying field conditions and travel to project sites
- Valid driver's license required
