Job Description

Midwest Salt is growing—and data is central to how we scale smarter.

We’re seeking a Business Systems & Data Analyst who is equal parts analyst and builder. You’ll own the SQL queries, dashboards, and reports that drive leadership decisions - while also designing the data infrastructure that connects SAP Business One with our logistics, tax, pricing, and ecommerce systems into a single source of truth.

What You’ll Do
  • Build, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries against the SAP HANA database
  • Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI and SAP Crystal Reports
  • Design and build a centralized data lake that consolidates data from SAP and all integrated systems
  • Create and maintain automated ETL pipelines using Python and SQL
  • Translate ERP business processes (order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, inventory) into analytical models
  • Maintain and evolve pricing, cost, and margin models within the ERP environment
  • Design and build User Defined Objects, Tables, and Fields in SAP B1
  • Troubleshoot and validate data from system integrations, add-ons, APIs, and EDIs
  • Design data quality checks, reconciliation controls, and exception reporting
  • Define, document, and govern metric definitions and business logic
  • Deliver insights, forecasts, and scenario analysis to leadership
  • Train end users and promote a data-driven culture across the organization
What You’ll Enjoy
  • Owning analytics that directly influence leadership decisions
  • Building data infrastructure from the ground up
  • Working with real integrations and real complexity
  • High visibility, cross-functional impact, and room to innovate
  • Being part of a growing company with a long-term investment in data and technology
What You’ll Bring Required
  • Advanced SQL proficiency, including use of CTEs for multi-step logic, window functions for line-level analytics, and complex joins across ERP document life cycles.
  • Python (or similar) for data analysis, automation, and ETL pipelines
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience working with transactional ERP data
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate business questions into clear data and reporting logic
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Information Systems, or Computer Science
Strongly
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP ERP (SAP Business One or S/4

    HANA)
  • Experience with data lakes, data warehouses, or centralized data repositories
  • Experience building or maintaining SAP Crystal Reports
  • Familiarity with API integrations and troubleshooting data flows between systems
  • Experience with logistics or TMS platforms (McLeod, Descartes, or similar)
  • Experience with Avalara Ava Tax or similar tax compliance platforms
  • Pricing, cost modeling, margin, or supply chain analytics
  • Familiarity with data governance or master data management
