Overview
The Cardiometabolic Care Sales Team is at the forefront of US sales efforts for Novo Nordisk’s cardiometabolic product portfolio, including therapies for diabetes, obesity, and prevention of major adverse cardiovascular events. The team aims to advance broad cardiometabolic disease management by bringing new therapies to market to improve patient outcomes. As a team member, you will connect therapies to new specialties, build cardiometabolic advocates, and apply learnings that impact local markets and the organization in a cross-collaborative way.

The PositionAssumes responsibility for achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies aimed at effectively selling and promoting Novo Nordisk's portfolio of products to healthcare professionals and other office staff.
RelationshipsExternally, the CMCS maintains relationships with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, pharmacists, nurses and other paramedical customers and current co-promotion partners. Internally, the CMCS reports to the Portfolio District Business Manager of the specific sales territory and collaborates with other field-based colleagues in the same geographic area, particularly the territory partner.
Essential Functions- Demonstrates competencies with territory level impact
- Understands local payer markets (Medicare, Commercial, Medicaid), payer coverage, prescription requirements, step therapy, coverage gaps, copays and deductibles and their impact on customer decisions
- Understands territory customer groups (IPAs, Medical Groups, Health Systems, Local Clinics) to identify opportunities and tailor approaches
- Analyzes bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status
- Assesses the impact of managed care on prescribing decisions and adjusts sales and promotion strategies
- Develops relationships with specialists, hospital decision-makers, and other influencers on purchasing, prescribing and formulary decisions
- Researches, understands and tailors account plans based on stakeholders and accounts practices
- Uses market understanding to develop and execute territory business plans
- Develops plans to gain access and build business-relevant relationships with prescribers, support staff, pharmacies and clinic admins to drive impact in patient management with NNI-approved solutions
- Maintains professionalism and customer focus, actively listening to and addressing customer and patient needs
- Collaborates across functions (e.g., Market Access, Specialty Sales) and shares knowledge to impact customers
- Implements Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model with external customers and at company-sponsored meetings
- Engages customers to uncover needs and provide solutions, and delivers core messages
- Gains commitment with impact and facilitates transitions
- Uses analytical tools to evaluate opportunities and create territory plans aligning with payer opportunities and brand/sales strategies
- Coordinates with internal stakeholders to implement plans and define roles and responsibilities
- Manages samples and company property in line with policies; oversees territory and promotional budgets
- Maintains thorough understanding of disease states and treatment options, including Novo Nordisk products and competitor products
- Participates in sales and marketing meetings, training programs, conventions and displays
Driver must maintain a valid driver’s license and be in good standing by not exceeding Novo Nordisk’s points threshold on Motor Vehicle Records.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (e.g., Pharm
D) as required - Minimum one year of experience in Pharmaceutical/Healthcare, Sales, Consulting, Customer Service or Military preferred
