Our more than 900 employees self-perform approximately 80% of site groundwork, including clearing, grading, utilities, drainage, concrete, bridge, stone base, and asphalt paving work.
About the RoleBlythe Development is seeking a Bridge Carpenter to perform physically demanding carpentry and general construction work on highway, bridge, and heavy civil projects. This role uses hand tools, power tools, aerial lifts, and other mobile equipment to build and support concrete structures while maintaining a safe, organized job site.
Key Responsibilities- Construct, install, brace, and remove forms and structural components for bridge and heavy highway projects
- Operate hand tools, power tools, aerial lifts, and mobile equipment safely
- Clean and prepare work areas, dig trenches, remove debris, and dispose of waste materials
- Maintain a clean, secure job site by properly storing tools and equipment and addressing potential hazards
- Follow all safety, first-aid, personal protective equipment, and incident-reporting procedures
- Report safety concerns, equipment issues, and job-site problems promptly to a supervisor
- Work independently and with the project team to complete assigned tasks on schedule
- Knowledge of the safe use of lifts, hand tools, power tools, construction materials, and supplies
- Ability to work safely at heights using mobile equipment and required personal protective equipment
- Knowledge of first aid and applicable construction safety precautions
- Ability to understand, follow, and communicate written and verbal instructions
- Dependable attendance and consistent adherence to the assigned work schedule
- Regularly work near moving machinery and tools, requiring manual dexterity, multi-limb coordination, quick movement, and stamina
- Lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing more than 50 pounds
- Use the legs, hips, shoulders, abdominal muscles, and lower back for sustained physical support without fatigue
- Stand or walk for extended periods and climb ladders
