School Counselor, Guidance Counselor: Social/Educational, Adult Education, Summer Seasonal
The Student Development Counselor supports current and prospective students by providing academic and personal counseling, advising, career exploration, and disability services. As part of the Student Success Center, the Counselor serves as a primary contact for general advising needs across diverse student groups, including dual-enrolled, adult, and traditional students. The role ensures equitable access for students with disabilities and collaborates closely with campus departments—such as admissions, registrar, financial aid, advising, and testing services—to deliver a positive, seamless student experience from enrollment through completion.
Location:
Palmer Campus.
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs. - Preferred:
Two (2) years of experience in student services programs. - Highly preferred:
Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work with at least two (2) years of professional experience in student services programs. - Knowledge and skills of individual and group counseling techniques and practices, disabilities-related services theory, crisis management, career development, academic advisement, and ADA and Section 504 requirements.
- Must be able to effectively analyze and solve problems and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Provides counseling to prospective and enrolled students.
- Conducts workshops.
- Administers and interprets various career and personality inventories and assessments.
- Provides intake and follow-up services to students with disabilities.
- Assists faculty with Early Alert students.
- Collaborates with campus departments to support student success.
