Position:
Instructional Facilitator

Fulmer Middle School, Lexington School District Two

Summary

The Instructional Facilitator will support and provide initial and ongoing professional development to teachers based on an analysis of student assessment and the provision of differentiated instruction and intensive intervention. The Instructional Facilitator will also model effective instructional strategies for teachers, facilitate study groups, coach and mentor colleagues, and work with teachers to ensure that research-based reading programs are implemented with fidelity.

The Instructional Facilitator will attend regular meetings with district-level coordinators to ensure consistent programming throughout the district and may at times be responsible for providing district-level professional development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate professional development activities for analyzing student work and improving instruction for educators.
  • Assist teachers in implementing standards-based instruction for all content areas.
  • Model effective teaching practices and instructional strategies in the classroom.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on their implementation of appropriate instructional strategies and teaching practices.
  • Provide teachers with training and practice in developing and managing performance data for use in measuring student progress over time.
  • Facilitate collaboration with staff, parents, and community as appropriate to student learning and professional development needs.
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of tools, especially instructional technology, to enhance and extend instruction.
  • Other duties related to the improvement of student achievement as determined by the school.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises classroom and students and volunteers.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience.
  • South Carolina Teacher Certification.
  • Bachelor of Arts degree (required).
  • Valid South Carolina Elementary Teaching Certificate.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.
  • Mathematical skills: probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions.
  • Reasoning ability: solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Other skills and abilities: apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
Physical Demands

The employee frequently required to stand, talk or hear, and occasionally walk and sit. May lift significant amounts of weight up to and exceeding 25 lbs. Occasionally may push or lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., boxes of books and AV/VCR carts). The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required include close vision to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus.

Environment

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Duties performed indoors and occasionally outdoors. The employee must meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
