Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer-aided design and drafting related to signage, with proficiency in various software tools. As a CAD Drafter, you will play a crucial role in the development of detailed drawings and schematics that support our design, fabrication, and installation projects. Your expertise will contribute to building innovative sign solutions while ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with all applicable standards.

Responsibilities
  • Create, revise, and maintain detailed 2D and/or 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD (and other CAD software as applicable) for a wide range of signage projects, including illuminated, non-illuminated, architectural, and way finding signs.
  • Develop accurate shop drawings, schematics, and layouts that meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and industry standards.
  • Translate conceptual designs and client artwork into fabrication-ready drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, mounting details, and installation methods.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, project managers, fabrication teams, and installers to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with production capabilities.
  • Incorporate redlines, markups, and feedback from internal teams and clients into updated drawings in a timely manner.
  • Prepare complete drawing packages, including assembly drawings, exploded views, sections, parts lists, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Specify materials, finishes, hardware, fasteners, and lighting components commonly used in sign manufacturing (e.g., aluminum, steel, acrylic, LEDs, vinyl, composites).
  • Ensure drawings comply with applicable building codes, electrical standards, and local sign regulations where required.
  • Perform quality control checks on all drawings to verify accuracy, clarity, and completeness prior to release for fabrication or permitting.
  • Support permit submittals by producing code-compliant drawings and responding to revisions or comments from authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Maintain organized digital records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation according to company standards.
  • Assist with troubleshooting design or fabrication issues by reviewing drawings and proposing practical solutions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of drafting standards, templates, and best practices within the department.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Proficiency in CAD software, with strong experience using AutoCAD; experience with additional software such as Solid Works, Inventor, or similar 3D modeling tools is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of drafting standards, dimensioning practices, and mechanical/structural design principles as they relate to sign manufacturing.
  • Experience producing shop drawings and fabrication-ready documentation for manufactured products; signage or architectural metal experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of common sign construction methods, materials, mounting systems, and illumination techniques (LEDs, power supplies, wiring diagrams) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, structural details, and client specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational and file management skills, with a clear understanding of revision control.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to engineers, project managers, fabricators, and installers.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in a CAD drafting or engineering support role is required.
  • Previous experience drafting signage or related products (architectural metals, displays, fixtures) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes, UL requirements, and local sign codes is a plus.
  • Associate degree or technical training in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred (or equivalent practical experience).
