About Three Rivers Behavioral HealthThree Rivers Behavioral Health is a 136‑bed facility located in West Columbia, SC, offering psychiatric, detoxification/rehabilitation, and dual diagnosis treatment for adolescents and adults. Our outpatient services include a Partial Hospitalization Program for adult and senior day treatment and an Adult Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program with day and evening sessions.
ResponsibilitiesEnhances the skills and knowledge of nursing staff, ensuring they are well‑equipped to provide high‑quality patient care. This position requires a strong background in nursing, along with expertise in training development, medical documentation, and quality indicators. The Nurse Educator works closely with various departments to develop educational programs aligned with current medical standards and practices, tracks, monitors and reports nursing quality indicators, partners with nursing leadership and PI Coordinator/Director to develop PI plans built around quality dashboards, and delivers training that directly impacts performance improvement goals.
KeyPhysical Requirements
- Ability to continuously walk and stand for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, pull, and lift objects from a lower to a higher position or horizontally from position to position.
- Exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
- Manual dexterity and physical agility to perform de‑escalation procedures.
- Ability to calmly and therapeutically handle aggressive, hostile, and irrational behavior of patients.
- Ability to respond immediately to crisis situations concerning patients and/or family members and to work and concentrate amid distractions such as noise, conversation, and foot traffic.

- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing; master’s degree in nursing education preferred. - License:
Current South Carolina RN license or valid compact state license. - Experience:
Minimum five years of RN experience, with at least two years in behavioral health; at least one year of professional/staff development or nursing education preferred. - Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of patient milieu management, age‑specific and cultural requirements, Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA regulations, and relevant state/federal standards including the Baker Act. - Experience in quality assurance / performance improvement preferred.
- BLS/CPI certification training required (facility will provide).
