As a Security Officer – Fulfillment Center Access in West Columbia, SC
, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at a fast-paced logistics and distribution location, you will greet employees and visitors, manage badges and entry points, verify credentials, and monitor activity to help reduce security-related incidents. You will maintain clear communication, document unusual events, and support a customer-focused experience.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide customer service to employees, drivers, visitors and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.

  • Control access at entry points by checking identification, verifying credentials and/or appointments, and directing visitors to the proper location.

  • Operate a gatehouse or lobby access post by managing sign-in processes, issuing temporary badges as directed, and maintaining visitor, contractor and delivery logs.

  • Support shipping and receiving operations by coordinating access for tractor trailers, box trucks and couriers, confirming scheduled pickups and drop-offs, and routing vehicles to assigned docks or staging areas.

  • Monitor cameras, alarms and access control systems, and report irregular conditions or potential policy violations to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.

  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including dispatching assistance and documenting actions taken.

  • Perform security-related screening as required by site procedures, which may include package checks, bag checks and/or metal detection.

  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility interior, yard areas and perimeter as assigned. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.

  • Complete daily activity reports, incident reports and access logs with accurate details, and communicate relevant updates during shift turnover.

  • Assist with traffic flow and pedestrian movement near entrances, dock doors and parking areas to help reduce congestion and/or unauthorized access.

Minimum Requirements
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21 years of age for armed roles.

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.

  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
