The Role
The Cybersecurity Engineer at Lexington Medical Center plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the organization’s digital assets and infrastructure. This full-time, day shift position involves overseeing the entire security lifecycle across a multi-platform environment, ensuring the delivery of secure, reliable services for patients and staff alike. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining risk-appropriate security solutions tailored to meet the complex needs of the healthcare environment.
This includes managing hardware and software defenses across cloud, mobile, and on-premises environments, with a focus on enhancing the organization’s cybersecurity maturity. The role requires proactive monitoring of security systems, identifying vulnerabilities, analyzing threats, and implementing strategies to mitigate risks. The engineer will collaborate with various IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to develop security roadmaps, respond to incidents, and support compliance initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in cybersecurity, network engineering, security engineering, incident response, or systems architecture. Equivalent experience may be considered with a High School Diploma and seven years of relevant experience. Certifications such as cybersecurity or network security credentials are preferred.
A valid driver’s license is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, as well as a working knowledge of network security appliances like firewalls and intrusion prevention systems. Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, Python, Bash, Power Shell, or JavaScript is essential. Familiarity with cloud security platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, especially in data loss prevention and information protection strategies, is highly desirable.
The candidate must demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
The Cybersecurity Engineer will be tasked with proactively monitoring security technologies, including firewalls, SIEM systems, IDS/IPS, NAC, and data loss prevention tools, to detect and respond to suspicious activities.
