Instructional Assistant - Special Education - 5.5 hours - Walnut Grove Intermediate School

Instructional Assistant Position

Under the direction of assigned administrator, assist certificated teachers or specialists in performing a wide variety of services associated with the special education instructional program in the classroom and other locations in the school. Instructional assistants in this assignment spend the major portion of their time working usually independently with pupils in small groups or tutoring on a one-to-one basis in a classroom or pull-out program.

Required qualifications:

Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and at least one year demonstrated experience in working with youth in an organized setting. Must demonstrate proficiency in basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills by passing the District Instructional Assistant Proficiency examination. Pre-employment steps: A Mantoux Tuberculin Test within 60 days of hire date, Drug Screening by District approved facility, Fingerprint Clearance, Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Certification, Bloodborne Pathogens Safety Certification, Injury and Illness Prevention Program, School Bullying Certification, Anti-Harassment Training, Cyber Security Overview, Email and Messaging Safety Training.
