Position: Mental Health Therapist I

Schedule:

8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Compensation We Offer
  • The initial compensation for this position ranges from $70,304 to $84,419 per year/per hour; depending on experience, location, and internal equity considerations.
  • 8% License Differential for LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD. and select Peer Certifications.
  • 7.5% Bilingual Differential for qualified positions

The Mental Health Therapist I provides direct behavioral health services to individuals, families, and groups under clinical supervision. This role includes conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, delivering therapy sessions, and maintaining documentation in compliance with legal, ethical, and contractual standards. The therapist supports client recovery through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and client-centered care. This position is ideal for early-career clinicians gaining hours toward licensure and provides structured supervision, training, and ongoing professional development within a supportive interdisciplinary team environment.

Therapist

Responsibilities
  • Provides individual, family, and/or group therapy services under supervision.
  • Conducts clinical assessments, develops diagnostic impressions, and creates treatment plans.
  • Maintains timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with Medi-Cal and agency standards.
  • Participates in clinical supervision and team case reviews.
  • Collaborates with case managers, psychiatrists, and other providers in care coordination.
  • Supports crisis intervention, safety planning, and risk assessments as appropriate.
  • Uses evidence-based and strengths-based approaches tailored to client needs.
  • Upholds ethical standards and legal mandates for pre-licensed clinicians.
  • Participates in professional development activities and internal trainings.
  • Promotes trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and equity-focused care in all interactions.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree (MA/MS) in social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling, or a related behavioral health field and (3) three or more years of relevant experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience to include:
  • Registered as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) with the California BBS.
  • Minimum of (3) three years of experience providing behavioral health services, including practicum/internship experience.
  • Familiarity with Medi-Cal documentation, DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, and treatment planning.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and underserved communities.
  • Bilingual/bicultural abilities may be preferred depending on the population served.
  • Must meet eligibility for agency-provided clinical supervision toward licensure.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand or sit. The employee is required to use hands to produce records and/or documentation in manual or electronic format. The employee must possess ability to ensure significant communication with the Clinics’ community members. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 10 pounds.
