Job Overview
The Staff LVN is a licensed caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. He/she is a clinical practitioner who implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care/within scope of practice.
Provides direct patient care under the direction/supervision of a registered nurse. Practices within the legal boundaries for licensed vocational nursing and accepts responsibility of individual nursing actions, competence, decisions and behavior in the course of vocational nursing practice.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for a group of patients within a designated timeframe.
- Implement patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units.
- Ensure quality care is provided efficiently and safely, consistent with the unit's standard of care.
- Provide direct patient care under the direction/supervision of a registered nurse.
- Practice within the legal boundaries for licensed vocational nursing and accept responsibility of individual nursing actions, competence, decisions, and behavior in the course of vocational nursing practice.
Minimum Education Requirement:
Attend at least 4 hours of an approved pediatric education within 6 months of hire date and every year thereafter. May attend a Two-day approved EDAP/ENPC course every 4 years for those at QVH only.
Minimum Experience Requirement:
Minimum 2 years acute successful clinical experience preferred. Prior experience in an acute care facility, urgent care or formal classroom education in Medical/Surgical as appropriate for clinical specialty. Excellent customer service skills required.
- Current LVN license in the State of California.
- Maintains BLS certification/re-certification as required.
- IV Certification must be attained within 90 days.
- ACLS certification within 3 months.
- NRP required for certain specialties.
- PALS required within 6 months of hire for certain specialties.
- Assaultive Behavior Training Certification that meets AB508 and SB1299 required within 30 days of hire/transfer.
- New hires who have completed Assaultive Behavior training outside of Emanate Health will be required to complete Emanate Health Work Place Violence online awareness module within 30 days of hire/transfer.
- LVN DOU/CCU/ICU
- Two years experience in an acute care facility or outpatient surgical setting is preferred.
- BLS required.
- ACLS within 3 months from date of hire.
- LVN MBCU
- Maintains BLS certification/ re-certification as required.
- IV Certification must be attained within 90 days.
- NRP required.
- LVN Med Surg
- BLS required.
- IV certification is required.
- LVN NICU
- Maintains BLS certification/ re-certification as required.
- IV Certification must be attained within 90 days.
- LVN L&D
- BLS required.
- IV certification is required.
- NRP required within 3 months of hire/transfer.
- LVN PEDS
- Current LVN license in CA.
- BLS required.
- PALS required within 6 months of hire.
- IV Certification must be attained within 90 days.
- LVN PSW
- IV certification is required at date of hire/transfer.
- Maintains BLS certification/re-certification as required.
- Assaultive Behavior Training Certification that meets AB508 and SB1299 required upon hire/transfer.
- LVN Pre-Admitting
- Current LVN license in CA.
- BLS required.
- LVN Emergency
- California LVN license.
- BLS required.
- IV certification is required within 60 days of hire.
- Assaultive Behavior Training Certification that meets AB508 and SB1299 required within 30 days of hire/transfer.
- ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- Annual 8 hours of Stroke Education required for those working at QVH.
