Job Summary
The Staff RN is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients over a designated time frame. The role includes preparing patients for surgery, circulating and providing post‑anesthesia care, performing medical screening, and ensuring appropriate disposition of patients. The RN assesses patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum, provides newborn assessment, and evaluates resuscitation needs of the newborn. The RN coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units, provides care for high‑risk antepartum patients, and ensures quality care is delivered efficiently and safely.
The RN utilizes nursing skills to determine biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self‑care, and educational needs of the patient, family, or significant other, and develops, implements, and revises the plan of care. Family‑centered education is also a key component.
- Prepares patients for surgery.
- Circulates and provides post‑anesthesia care.
- Provides medical screening and appropriate disposition of patients.
- Assesses patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum.
- Provides newborn assessment and evaluates resuscitation needs of the newborn.
- Coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units.
- Provides care for high‑risk antepartum population.
- Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care.
- Utilizes nursing skills to determine biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self‑care, and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other.
- Develops, implements, and revises the plan of care.
- Provides family‑centered education.
- Minimum experience:
newly graduated nurses, re‑entry nurses, and nurses new to the U.S. healthcare system – must complete the Emanate Health RN New Grad Program. - Excellent customer service skills required.
- One year of L&D experience preferred.
- Current RN license in the State of California.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS and Advanced NRP within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- AWOHNN Advanced Fetal monitoring will be obtained within 90 days of hire for experienced RNs; for L&D training program participants, it will be completed within 18 months.
- Annual 1 hour of Stroke Education required.
Pay Range: $48.97 - $74.88
