Infusion RN - Cancer Center QVH

Job Summary

Provides assessment and nursing intervention in all areas of Infusion Therapy when requested by physicians and/or clinical trial protocols in the outpatient setting. Performs the nursing process through individualized assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of safe, therapeutic, efficient, and quality care for patients consistent with the unit's standard of care. This includes chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IV therapy, and blood transfusions.

• Promotes clinical effectiveness, efficiency and quality care in practice setting.
• Demonstrates competency in accessing porta‑caths, PICC lines, peripheral venous access and performing case management interventions.
• Coordinating patient care across all cancer care providers and continuum of care.
• Implementing patient specific treatment plans ordered by physicians.
• Providing effective education, resources and support to patients and families; assessing biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self‑care and educational needs.
• Advocating on behalf of patients with the care team.
• Contributing to the educational process for patients, staff and self; promoting clinical effectiveness.

• Minimum education:
  
  BSN preferred.
• Minimum experience:
  
  Two years of outpatient infusion RN chemotherapy administration experience in a clinic, physician office or hospital. Oncology Ambulatory Infusion Center experience preferred.
• Current California RN license.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy provider card required.
• OCN certification preferred.
• Ongoing education: 12 cancer related continuing nursing education hours annually.
