Pet Smart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness and maintenance, and pet safety standards as well as the direct care of pets within our store.

• Engage with pet parents and their pets in person, over the phone, at the sales register, and online.
• Greet pet parents and answer their questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup and ensure a positive experience.
• Care for store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Support weekly price changes and promotional pricing.
• Stage and sort new products according to sales floor plans.
• Replenish and recover products to meet standards.
• Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer store-owned pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events such as adoption weekends, charity events, etc.
• Ensure a safe environment for staff, pets, and customers.
• Take immediate action for sick or injured pets, including transport to the vet.
• Assist in various store areas as needed.

• Follow all company policies and procedures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, handle objects, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required include depth perception.
• Lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally move more than 100 pounds with assistance.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet environments, pet hair, and noise. Handling live animals is common.
