Position Summary

The accountant position is an exempt position. Normal working hours for the team are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with hybrid work schedule opportunities. Hours may vary during peak seasons.

Financial Reporting

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain fixed assets and depreciation/amortization schedules in FAS.
  • Reconcile to subsidiary ledgers for accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost, and fixed assets.
  • Reconcile to statements for bank accounts, debt, escrow, and accrued interest.
  • Agree and reconcile intercompany accounts to various entities.
  • Review income and expense accounts for proper classification.
  • Prepare financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement.
  • Submit financial package for review and approval.
  • Prepare work papers, schedules, and documentation for investors, clients, lenders, regulators, auditors, and tax preparers as needed.
  • Coordinate preparation and review of reports as required by lenders and equity partners.
  • Assist with maintenance of general ledger base account descriptions and detailed explanations of how each account is utilized.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of processes and procedures.
Entity Budgeting For Responsible Portfolio
  • Work with team members to assist with budget creation.
  • Calculate certain budget amounts and provide to the budget preparer.
  • Participate in annual budget review meetings.
Systems Setup and Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve systems problems, working with managers and/or software vendors as needed.
  • Work with the team to automate manual processes and implement identified project improvements.
Relationship Management
  • Provide prompt and courteous service.
  • Perform job responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies.
  • Actively cooperate with all internal service delivery partners to provide optimal service to customers and clients.
  • Follow up with internal customers on a regular basis to ensure their business needs and expectations are understood and met.
Business Management
  • Coordinate and maintain accounting procedures for assigned responsibilities.
  • Serve as a backup to other accounting positions as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA preferred.
  • Two years’ minimum in accounting experience required.
  • Must remain alert at all times to perform essential functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Success Factors
  • Real estate accounting experience preferred.
  • Sound analytical thinking skills, interpersonal skills, and management skills.
  • Proficiency with software systems including Microsoft Word and Excel required. Sage 300 (Timberline), Yardi and/or Sage FAS a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and meet multiple demands on a limited timeline.
  • Good interpersonal skills in negotiation, conflict management, and relationship building with service delivery partners including property managers and other team members.
  • Able to take project specifications and implement details to achieve desired results.
