Position Summary

The Teller serves as a primary point of contact for customers and plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional community banking experience. This position is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing financial and non-financial transactions while building strong customer relationships, identifying customer needs, and supporting the overall goals of the bank. The Teller demonstrates a commitment to customer service, teamwork, operational excellence, and community involvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Transaction Processing (73%)
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers promptly, professionally, and courteously.
  • Accurately process a variety of financial and non-financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, cashier's checks, and other banking services.
  • Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, operational controls, and security standards.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer and accurately reconcile transactions at the end of each day.
  • Perform branch capture and other operational functions as assigned.
  • Follow all regulatory and compliance requirements related to transactions and customer interactions.
  • Assist customers with account inquiries and direct them to appropriate resources when needed.
  • Ensure a positive customer experience by identifying and resolving customer concerns efficiently.
Business Development & Referrals (15%)
  • Build strong customer relationships through meaningful conversations and active listening.
  • Identify customer financial needs and refer customers to appropriate products, services, or bank personnel.
  • Support the bank's growth initiatives by meeting or exceeding referral goals and service standards.
  • Promote bank products and services in a professional, customer-focused manner.
Teamwork & Internal Service (10%)
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers to ensure efficient branch operations and outstanding customer service.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and accountability in attendance and job performance.
  • Support teammates by assisting with daily operational tasks and workload balancing.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and adapt to changes in schedules, responsibilities, procedures, or branch needs.
  • Provide excellent internal service, recognizing that strong teamwork contributes to superior customer experiences.
Community Involvement (2%)
  • Represent the bank in community activities and events.
  • Participate in a minimum of two community outreach events and two community festivals or bank-sponsored activities each year.
  • Support the bank's mission of strengthening relationships within the communities it serves.
Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional post-secondary education preferred.
Experience
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Cash handling experience required.
  • Prior teller or banking experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong mathematical and cash-handling skills.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and security protocols.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other banking technology systems.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and make appropriate referrals.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
