Electrical Engineer – West Des Moines, IA

Shive‑Hattery’s West Des Moines Office is hiring an Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience. This full‑time position is for a motivated professional who is currently licensed or plans to obtain a professional engineering license. The role is fast‑paced and involves collaboration with a talented team to deliver high‑quality commercial projects for clients.

• Design electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, LED & custom lighting, life‑safety systems, and data/communications.
• Lead the design and production of projects across Industrial, Institutional, Commercial, Education, Government, and Healthcare facilities.
• Visit construction sites to assist with measuring, data collection, and construction observation.
• Manage time and workload effectively, planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks with attention to detail.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis.
• Experienced in 3D modeling; proficiency in Revit preferred, and a willingness to learn Autodesk Revit.
• Experience in the design of lighting, power, and low‑voltage systems.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communication.
• Administrable engineering license or intent to obtain one (FE exam taken or planned).
