Electrical Engineer

Shive-Hattery's West Des Moines Office has an opening for an Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience. This is a full‑time position for a motivated individual who is licensed or plans to acquire a professional engineering license.
We are looking for someone who thrives on the fast‑paced nature of commercial projects and values working closely with other talented professionals dedicated to providing a great experience to our clients.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical engineering emphasis
• Experience in 3D modeling, Revit preferred. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is desired
• Ability to collaborate with other team members and possess good interpersonal skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Electrical design for building systems including power distribution, LED and custom lighting design, Life Safety Systems, and data/communications
• Experience working in a diverse market including Industrial, Institutional, Commercial, Education, Government and Healthcare facilities
• Leading the design and production of projects
• Visiting project construction sites to assist with measuring, data collection and construction observation duties
• Effective time and workload management, including planning, organizing and prioritizing with attention to detail

• Experience with design of lighting, power, and low‑voltage systems desired
• Graduated from an accredited engineering school in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in Revit is preferred; a desire to learn Autodesk Revit is required
• Have taken and passed, or intend to take, the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
