Special Projects Manager, Central Region

Role Description
Support deployment, operations, installations, and maintenance of a fiber optic network for residential and business customers throughout the Central Region, which includes Omaha, Des Moines, and Kansas City. Report to the Head of Metro Technical Operations, flex within the region to meet business needs, and travel or take on temporary duty assignments as required.
In this role, you'll:
- Support the deployment and operation of GFiber’s FTTH build in the region by assisting the Head of Metro Technical Operations in leading all Deployment and Operational team members within a metropolitan area.
- Ensure alignment between various parts of the customer network deployment from design to service delivery, guaranteeing the best local network is designed, built, and maintained with speed and budget.
- Coordinate with city management (city officials, jurisdictional authorities, and utility representatives) to ensure business targets are met.
- Lead and manage proposals, bids, scope definition, engineering design cycles, design review, and approvals for an FTTH network, specifically the selection of vendors.
At a minimum we'd like you to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience with fiber network deployments, outside and inside plant fiber infrastructure.
- 7 years of leadership experience leading teams and managing vendors.
- 7 years of experience with budgeting, forecasting costs, project reporting, capacity planning, quality assurance, equipment turn-up, testing and acceptance.
It's preferred if you have:
- MBA or Master's degree in Technology.
- 10 years of relevant industry experience, with technical and people management experience.
- Experience developing requests for proposals (RFPs), scheduling projects, cost engineering, budgeting and forecasting costs, reporting project status and costs, procurement and consulting with contractors and vendors.
- Experience with inside (ISP) and outside (OSP) plant fiber optic network infrastructure, and engineering design and construction.
- Experience with network drawings, route maps and scopes of work, interpreting fiber test results and auditing projects for compliance with scopes of work.
- Experience in operational improvement, process/workflow development, and managing complex cross‑functional projects.
The US base salary range for this full‑time position is between $136,000 – $149,600 plus bonus and benefits.
